Cambridge IGCSE

Inspiring your child to love learning

Wherever in the world your child wants to go, help them get there with Cambridge IGCSE. As the world’s most popular international qualification, the programme inspires students to love learning and helps develop deep subject knowledge and skills for the future. Typically for ages 14 to 16, it is taught by over 6,000 schools in over 150 countries.

Cambridge IGCSE is built around what matters most to your child as they progress in their education.

A love of learning

We offer students the flexibility to choose from over 70 subjects at Cambridge IGCSE, including 30 languages, meaning they can study the subjects they enjoy and are best at.

An aligned programme based on the latest research

We believe education works best when curriculum, teaching and learning, resources and assessment are closely aligned and encourage personal growth and wellbeing.

We support our Cambridge IGCSE teachers with high-quality resources to help them plan and deliver the programme. With this approach, they can support your child – by providing additional guidance to build understanding and confidence, or offering stretch and challenge, so they can reach their potential and thrive.

A global perspective

The programme is flexible and works alongside local and national curricula, giving your child an international education that fits into your local context.

Fair and meaningful assessments for every student

We work hard to make sure that our assessments are fair for all students in every country – especially as many of our learners are non-native English speakers. This means using simple language and layouts, as well as clear command words.

Assessment takes place at the end of the course. Your child will be assessed in different ways, including written, oral, coursework and practical options, giving them the best opportunity to demonstrate their learning, especially if English is not their first language. There are also options to suit learners of different abilities.

The grades awarded at Cambridge IGCSE are A* to G, with A* being the highest. Cambridge IGCSE is a great foundation for further study, including Cambridge International AS & A Level and other post-16 routes.

Your school can also use our Cambridge Yellis assessments, designed to help teachers gain deeper understanding of your child’s strengths, weaknesses and potential, and the support they might need to prepare for their Cambridge IGCSEs.

Recognised and valued worldwide

From the world’s top-ranked universities to local higher education institutions, Cambridge qualifications open doors to a world of opportunities. Cambridge IGCSE helps prepare your child with the skills they need to thrive at university and beyond.

The world’s best higher education institutions recognise our qualifications and value the critical thinking skills, independent research abilities and deep subject knowledge that Cambridge learners bring and help them to succeed at university.

In the UK, Cambridge IGCSE is accepted as equivalent to the GCSE. A good grade (Grade C or above) in Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language is accepted for entry by a number of universities in the UK as evidence of competence in the English language.

Many universities worldwide require a combination of Cambridge IGCSEs and Cambridge International A Levels to meet their entry requirements. Leading US and Canadian universities require Cambridge International AS & A Levels, but some US and Canadian colleges and universities will accept students with five Cambridge IGCSEs at Grade C or above.

A global learning community

With the Cambridge Pathway, your child is joining a global community of learners from more than 10,000 schools in over 160 countries. By working with our wider community, your teachers can connect with other schools to share best practice that can help to shape your child’s knowledge, understanding and skills.

Learning with lasting impact

We recognise that meaningful education is more than just building subject knowledge and conceptual understanding. To thrive in life, learners must also develop a broad range of skills, values, attitudes and behaviours.

When developing our Cambridge IGCSE programmes, assessments and resources, we build in plenty of opportunities to help your child become a reflective and innovative learner with the confidence to embrace new information, ideas and challenges. Responsible and respectful of others, they are engaged intellectually and socially – ready to make a positive impact.

With these attributes, Cambridge learners are ready
for the world.

Lets reach your future goals
