Cambridge International AS & A Level

Opening doors to a world of opportunities

Cambridge International AS & A Level opens doors to a world of opportunities, helping your child develop the knowledge and skills they need to achieve at school, university and work. Typically for students aged 16 to 19, it is perfect for learners who need advanced study to prepare for higher education.

We have built Cambridge International AS & A Level around what matters most to your child as they progress through their education.

A love of learning

our child can choose from a range of 55 subjects, meaning they can study what they enjoy and are good at. As well as a deep understanding of the subjects they study, they will develop independent learning and critical thinking skills – abilities that universities value highly.

Cambridge International AS & A Level is a two-year course, though students can complete AS Level in one year. Your school can choose to offer Cambridge International AS Level qualifications in their own right, or as a way to progress to Cambridge International A Level.

An aligned programme based on the latest research

We believe education works best when curriculum, teaching and learning, resources and assessment are closely aligned and encourage personal growth and wellbeing.

With this approach, teachers can support your child – by providing additional guidance to build understanding and confidence, or offering stretch and challenge, helping
them to reach their potential and thrive.

An international education

We design Cambridge International AS & A Levels for an international audience, making them ideal for learners whose first language is not English

Fair and meaningful assessments
for every student

We work hard to make sure that our assessments are fair for all students in every country – especially as many of our learners are non-native English speakers. This means using simple language and layouts, as well as clear command words.

Assessment takes place at the end of the course. Your child will be assessed in different ways, including written, oral, coursework and practical options, giving them the best opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills, especially if English is not their first language.

Cambridge International A Level is graded A* to E. Cambridge International AS Level is graded A to E.

We offer a linear assessment model, with exams at the end of the course. This gives your child more time to develop a deeper understanding of their subject.

Your school can also use our Cambridge Alis assessments, designed to help teachers gain deeper understanding of your child’s strengths, weaknesses and potential, and the support they might need to prepare for their Cambridge International AS & A Levels.

Recognised and valued worldwide

Every year Cambridge International AS & A Levels help thousands of learners to gain places at leading universities around the world. From the world’s top-ranked universities to local higher education institutions, Cambridge qualifications open doors to a world of opportunities, helping to prepare your child with the skills they need to thrive at university and beyond.

The world’s best higher education institutions recognise our qualifications and value the critical thinking skills, independent research abilities and deep subject knowledge that Cambridge learners bring and help them to succeed at university.

A global learning community

With the Cambridge Pathway, your child is joining a global community of learners from more than 10 000 schools in over 160 countries. By working with our wider community, your teachers can connect with other schools from around the world to share best practice.

We recognise that meaningful education is more than just building subject knowledge and conceptual understanding. To thrive in life, learners must also develop a broad range of skills, values, attitudes and behaviours.

When developing our Cambridge International AS & A Level programmes, assessments and resources, we build in plenty of opportunities to help schools develop reflective and innovative learners with the confidence to embrace new information, ideas and challenges. Responsible and respectful of others, they are engaged intellectually and socially – ready to make a positive impact.

Learning with lasting impact

With these attributes, we are helping your child be
ready for the world.

Lets reach your future goals

Together!
